You can say \newshadetheorem{thm}{Theorem} or \newshadetheorem{}[]{} or \newshadetheorem{}{}[] to produce shaded boxes from the usual command \begin{theorem} \ldots \end{theorem}. Requires the color package. This package was implemented by Jim Hefferon.
